Turn on the news and you’ll instantly know that the world is broken by sin. Every piece has remnants of the corruption and difficulty sin has brought – from disease to civil war to persecution. It can be difficult at times to stomach it all. I find myself turning off the television to avoid hearing so much bad news. As Christians, how are we to respond to these situations?

We are broken by sin, too, so we can’t trust our emotions about issues to guide us. Instead, we need to look to God’s Word and wise counsel. Here are 4 resources to help:

  1. The Gospel for Life series edited by Russell Moore

This series is timely, helping Christians respond in a way that honors God to the issues facing us today. So far, The Gospel and Racial Reconciliation, The Gospel and Same-Sex Marriage, and The Gospel and Religious Liberty are available, with books on marriage, pornography, and parenting forthcoming.
We feel so strongly about how helpful these books are that we wanted you to have this excerpt: The Gospel and Racial Reconciliation excerpt.
  2. Onward by Russell Moore
Onward by Russell MooreAs the culture changes all around us, it is no longer possible to pretend that we are a Moral Majority. That may be bad news for America, but it can be good news for the church. As Christianity seems increasingly strange, and even subversive, to our culture, we have the opportunity to reclaim the freakishness of the gospel, which is what gives it it’s power in the first place.
  3. Unashamed by Lecrae Moore
Screen Shot 2016-07-11 at 9.50.51 AMIf you live by people’s acceptance, you’ll die by their rejection. Two-time Grammy winning rap artist, Lecrae, learned this lesson through more than his share of adversity—childhood abuse, drugs and alcoholism, a stint in rehab, an abortion, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Along the way, Lecrae attained an unwavering faith in Jesus and began looking to God for affirmation. You may not have expected a biography, but this one covers a lot of current issues and can help you work through them.
  4. One Nation Under God by Bruce Ashford and Chris Pappalardo
Screen Shot 2016-08-04 at 12.34.13 PMIt is possible to be passionate about the gospel and care deeply about politics? When it comes to politics, Christians today seem lost and confused. Many Christians desire to relate their faith to politics but simply don’t know how. This book exists to equip the reader to apply Christianity to politics with both grace and truth, with both boldness and humility.
